MOHR News

To our MOHR members, self-advocates, families, friends, and allies - thank you. Your voices, your persistence, and your courage throughout this year’s legislative session did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. In what proved to be a particularly challenging session, your commitment to advocating for people with disabilities and the professionals who support them was a powerful reminder of the strength and unity within our community.

Professionals from across Minnesota and beyond gathered in Waite Park, MN from May 19-21 for the 2025 MOHR Spring Training Conference—a powerful three-day experience filled with inspiration, education, and a strong sense of community. Held at the Park Event Center, this year’s theme, “Honoring the Past, Working in the Present, Embracing the Future,” set the tone for meaningful conversations and forward-thinking collaboration across the disability services sector.

Lori Schluttenhofer, CEO of Services for Opportunity Partners in Minnetonka, by multiple nomination, has been awarded the 2025 MOHR Inspire Award. The Inspire Award recognizes an outstanding individual whose leadership, dedication, and collaboration have meaningfully improved the lives of people with disabilities; who has made a lasting impact in the field of disability services; and who motivates others to take action in support of inclusion and equity.

Earth Day, observed every April 22, is a valuable opportunity to reflect on how we care for the planet—and how we include everyone in that mission. For MOHR members across the state, Earth Day offered a meaningful chance to promote environmental responsibility while empowering individuals with disabilities to take an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
